Who We Are:
- The largest health region in the province, serving approximately 300,000 local residents in more than 100 cities, towns, villages, RMs and First Nation communities [1]
- A provincial referral centre providing specialized care to thousands of people from across Saskatchewan
- An integrated health delivery agency providing a comprehensive range of services and programs including but not limited to hospital and long term care, public health and home care, mental health and addiction services, prenatal and palliative care
- An organization providing services and programs in more than 75 facilities, including 10 hospitals (including three tertiary hospitals in Saskatoon), 29 long term care facilities, and numerous primary health care sites, public health centres, mental health and addictions centres, and community-based settings [2]
- The largest employer in the province with 877 physicians and 13,200 registered nurses and other health care service and support workers and managers [3]
- An academic health sciences centre supporting more than 300 research studies within the health region [2] , providing training opportunities to more than 2000 health sciences students [4], and taking part in health education and research for the benefit of the province as a whole
- Supported by about 3,000 registered volunteers [5]

- 2010-11 operating budget of $912.4 million, equivalent to spending close to $2.5 million a day meeting the health needs of the community [6]
- 91% of operating budget is provided by funding from Saskatchewan Health
- 63.8% of operating budget is spent on hospital services, 18.8% on long term and supportive care, 10.1% on community-based/public health/home care services, 5.4% on program support and administration, and 1.9% on ancillary and special funded programs
- Approximately 79% of annual budget is spent on salaries and benefits
