Ethics Consultation Service
At Saskatoon Health Region, we respect your values and those of your family in all aspects of care. If you are unsure about choosing the best treatment for yourself or a family member, a consultation with the Ethics Consultation Service is available.
Saskatoon Health Region’s Ethics Consultation service:
- Can help you and others involved in your care talk about, understand, and come to agreement about ethical issues. Our goal is to help everyone involved arrive at a resolution that is right for all.
- Provides support for patients or families in times of ethical uncertainty or conflict.
- Supports those involved to ensure that the most appropriate care is being delivered to the patient/resident in a manner that respects all the parties involved and their relationships.
Any patient, family member or health care provider with ethical concerns may request an Ethics Case Review or consultation by speaking to a health care team member or calling the Royal University Hospital switchboard at 655-1000. All reviews are completely confidential.
The Ethics Consultants are members of the Saskatoon Health Region Ethics Committee and are experienced and interested in health care ethics.

Saskatoon Health Region encourages that valuables be left at home or sent home with a family member. There is limited storage space for valuables in some areas – which can be arranged through a staff member/nurse.
Scent Free Environment
Saskatoon Health Region has been designated as "scent free". Many patients/clients/residents, employees and the public are allergic to perfumes and other scented body products. These often have an adverse affect on an individual's health.
Please refrain from wearing perfume, scented hair spray, cologne, scented deodorant, aftershave, or any other scented products when you come to any of our facilities.
Scented products contain chemicals which can cause migraines, nausea, and even breathing problems for people with asthma, allergies, and environmental illness.
