Saskatoon Health Region is reaching out to all staff and physicians to conserve energy and save money!
Each year, the Health Region spends about $12 million in utilities including electricity and water at Saskatoon City, Royal University and St. Paul's Hospitals and Parkridge Centre. The cost is even greater when all rural facilities are taken into account.
Be part of the drive to conserve energy and reduce costs!

What is Saskatoon Health Region doing?
As operators of buildings in the Region, Facilities and Engineering Services has established an Energy Conservation Committee. The committee is working on selecting conservation projects with limited duration paybacks.
One of the areas we are focusing on is lighting: retrofits, sensor installations and de-lamping of overlit areas. We are also investing in a metering system so that we can accurately measure, report and manage energy usage at different sites. A good metering system is expected to generate cost savings of 20- 30 per cent.
We are actively seeking input into how we manage energy in our buildings. Employees are welcome to submit suggestions to the Sustainability Department's mascot Sprout, at sprout@saskatoonhealthregion.ca.
We are also setting up our FES main page to contain a "Green Alert" function, where online reports can be made by staff to alert us to areas where energy and water are being wasted. This would include leaking taps, lights that cannot be shut off or are constantly left on, or any ideas and concerns staff may have around our use of energy.
