Saskatoon Health Region faces $24 million shortfall
in 2010-11 budget
The Government of Saskatchewan delivered the 2010-2011 provincial budget on March 24, 2010. The result is a $24 million shortfall for Saskatoon Health Region. To explain the impact of the budget shortfall, Health Region President and CEO Maura Davies sent the following message to physicians, staff and volunteers:
The Government of Saskatchewan has a plan to transform surgical care for patients.
The Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative will strive to improve surgical patients' care experience and ensure that within four years, no one in the province has to wait longer than three months for surgery.
The Saskatoon Health Region, as a publicly funded organization, must adhere to transparency and accountability standards. Key to this process is measuring our performance.
