MAKE YOUR MOVE to Clinical Genetics

Our Genetic Counsellors participate in the co-ordination and day to day administration of a general genetics program. Medical Genetics at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon is a division within the department of Pediatrics and is the only Genetic Clinic in Saskatchewan. Our close knit team of two Geneticists, three Genetic Counsellors and three clerical staff see 1200 families every year.

Under the supervision of a geneticist, the Genetic Counsellors participate in evaluation and counselling in the areas of pediatric, adult, prenatal and cancer genetics. Opportunities exist to participate in or initiate research projects.

Our Service Includes

Triaging patient referrals
Reviewing and analysing medical family histories
Preparing families for genetic assessment ? Providing genetic education and support to patients and other professionals
Liasing with other related professionals

To Join Our Exciting Team of Clinical Genetic Counsellors, You Must Have

A Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling, or a minimum of two years’ recent Genetic Counselling experience and an equivalent education level
Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors
Good organisational , communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
The ability to function independently as well as in a team setting
A co-operative and dependable work ethic
