Our Respiratory Therapists
Respiratory Therapists support respiratory care
across the health region, in varying degrees from acute to long
term care. We are a team of 44 Respiratory Therapists in three
acute care hospitals assisting physicians in the diagnosis and
treatment of lung disorders.
We maintain patients on mechanical ventilation,
attend major trauma resuscitation and high-risk delivery of newborns,
participate on the Pediatric Transport and cardiac arrest teams,
assess patients for oxygenation, measure lung function, administer
inhaled medications, teach and participate in physician-led research
initiatives.
Our current critical care workload is over 11,550
ventilator patient days from emergency, trauma, pediatric, neonatal
and adult intensive care.
