(SASKATOON) December 5, 2001 -- Saskatoon District
Health will hold its fifth annual Research & Quality Fairs this
week to profile current research being undertaken by employees.
"We have an incredible wealth of ground-breaking research
taking place in our Health District," says Joanne Franko, Manager
of the Research Services Unit, SDH. "We value this research
because it creates a stimulating environment for learning and creativity
that in the end benefits patients, clients and staff."
In total, 24 different researchers from across the District will
be profiled. "Many of our researchers have teamed with others
in their care group, as well as with partners involved in health
care in the community," adds Franko.
Research topics profiled in the poster presentations include:
- Establishing a Primary Health Centre for Seniors
- Preoperative Experience: The Same Day Admission Surgery Patient's
Perspective
- Nutritional supplements for premature infants
- The Saskatoon Caregiver Information Centre - Implementing a
Community Based Model
- Drug trial for conduct disorders in children with lower than
average intelligence
- Computerized speech and language training in preschool children
