(SASKATOON) December 6, 2001 -- Saskatoon District
Health and a number of its affiliated agencies, have received a
three-year Full Accreditation report from the Canadian Council on
Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA). The national peer review,
conducted every three years, allows both the CCHSA and the District
to evaluate the quality of the District's services by comparing
them to nationally accepted standards.
"We are very proud of our accreditation standing," says
Bob Bundon, Board Chair, Saskatoon District Health. "This national
recognition is a testimony to the exceptional efforts of all physicians,
nurses, other health professionals, support staff and volunteers."
The six-day visit by the six-member national survey team in June,
was one of the largest and most complex undertaking by the CCHSA,
including all District hospital, community, home and long term care
services and 10 Long Term Care affiliates in the community.
"Accreditation was something new for us this year, so we gained
a lot from the process," says Gwenna Moss, Board Chair, Oliver
Lodge. "We are very proud to be part of such a positive accreditation
report."
The facilities involved in the review were Royal University Hospital,
Saskatoon City Hospital, St. Paul's Hospital, Parkridge Centre,
Extendicare Preston, Central Haven Special Care Home, Circle Drive
Special Care Home, Saskatoon Convalescent Home, Stensrud Lodge,
Sunnyside Nursing Home, Oliver Lodge, Salvation Army Eventide Home,
St. Ann's Senior Citizen's Village, Sherbrooke Community Centre,
Lutheran Sunset Home, Public Health/Home Care and Mental Health
Services. Many clients and community partners also participated
in the accreditation survey.
