October 4, 2005, Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region Public Health Services begins its annual fall influenza immunization program this week. The program is offered at various urban and rural locations in the Health Region between October 3 and 21 st.
The program is free of charge for adults over 65 years of age, children and adults with chronic lung, heart or kidney conditions, cancer, diabetes and immune disorders, and children and adolescents receiving long term ASA (Aspirin).
This year, for the first time, healthy children 6-23 months can get free flu shots. However, children in this age group require an appointment. Please call 655-4FLU (655-4358) to book your appointment as soon as possible.
For people not in the above categories, general flu clinics will be starting up in November. The Health Region will provide more information on those clinics closer to that time.
