November 15, 2005, Saskatoon -- A public meeting of the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority will take place Wednesday, November 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Saskatoon at the Garden Hilton Inn, North Ballroom.
Items that will be reviewed and discussed by the Authority include the following:
Performance Monitoring – The Regional Health Authority will review its financial statements for the period ending September 30, 2005, which indicate a surplus of $2.35 million for the six month period ended September 30, 2005.
Mental Health and Addictions Services Overview -- The Authority will receive as information an update on recent developments within Mental Health and Addictions Services. Current staffing and budget stands at 316 full-time equivalent positions and $24.2 million annually. New developments include planning related to the new single-site inpatient facility, social and brief detoxification operations, mental health home care, and Project Hope.
Committee and Task Force Reports – The Authority will consider and approve word changes to policy GP-3-10, Authority Remuneration. Remuneration is consistent with the current Order in Council, Government of Saskatchewan.
Partnership Agreement With the Saskatoon Community Clinic -- The Authority will be asked to approve a partnership agreement between the Community Health Services (Saskatoon) Association Ltd. (Saskatoon Community Clinic) and the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority. The Community Clinic, delivering health services since 1962, has been designated as a primary health site with funding for that aspect of their operations channelled through the Health Region.
** NOTE TO NEWS EDITORS **: Neil Gabrielson Q.C., the lawyer representing Dr. Charles Smith who is currently out of the country on a lecture tour which was planned a year ago and not available until November 21, has requested that the Authority adjourn its consideration of his client’s application for privileges until the next public Authority meeting. On the advice of legal counsel, the Authority will defer making a decision at its meeting on Wednesday. The Authority will meet with Dr. Smith on December 7. The next public Authority meeting is Thursday, December 15.
