SASKATOON (March 17, 2005) – Tune in to The Health Show on Wednesday, March 23 at 7 p.m., Shaw TV 10, as we focus the entire show on nutrition. The show will:
- explore the evolution of eating including how changes in traditional farming practices, the migration from rural to urban and women in the work force have changed how and what we eat
- look at reasons for such a high obesity rate in Saskatchewan children and youth, the risks to health, and some simple ways to increase more nutritious meals and snacks
- discover how to read and understand a food label to help us make informed decisions on planning nutritious meals for our families and
- highlight the practical aspects of healthy eating.
This week's special guests will be a panel of experts who will talk about the risks of restricting one or several food groups from our diets, how restrictive diets can affect our mental and emotional health, and a "non-dieting" philosophy.

The Health Show, with host Cynthia Block, is your award-winning source for local health information from health care professionals you know and trust. Mid-way in its fourth season, more than 40 shows have been produced highlighting various services and programs provided by the Saskatoon Health Region with more 350 health care professionals and community members interviewed for the various show segments. The 50th show will air May 25 with a special edition on caregivers.
