October 26, 2005, Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) has launched new public web pages within the SHR website to provide background and mark the progress of the high-priority service alignment project, an examination of the delivery of programs and services to better serve our community’s health needs.
"Service alignment is absolutely necessary for the Health Region to ensure smooth and appropriate access for our patients and to achieve efficient delivery and utilization of our health care services in Saskatoon," says President and Chief Executive Officer, Maura Davies. “The new website will be one of many communication tools that will be created to make this important planning process open and transparent.”
Building on work done last winter and spring, Phase II of the service alignment process has been initiated. A Steering Committee which includes representatives from Saskatchewan Health, the College of Medicine, Medical Staff, and the Operational and Senior Leadership Teams, was struck and met for the first time on October 5. The Committee developed and approved the planning principles and assumptions which will guide their work. This work was brought forward for review and was approved by the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority at its public meeting on October 19, 2005.
The Steering Committee plans to complete its work in late spring, at which time the Authority will receive a recommendation to approve the final plans and provide instruction on moving forward with the implementation of service alignment.
The service alignment section of the web site includes an introduction to the project, history, purpose, goals, guiding principles, project assumptions, deliverables, schedule, project teams, project phases, a contact page, and a frequently asked questions page.
"The website section will include an e-mail address to which you can submit your questions, comments or suggestions regarding service alignment. All questions will receive a response from one of the service alignment leaders in an appropriate time frame," explains SHR Service Alignment Project Coordinator, Bette Boechler.
As well, the Region has updated its Home Page to provide easier access to patients, visitors, the public, the media and health professionals to important information about the Region that they need. To access the new Home Page, visit www.saskatoonhealthregion.ca for the latest news and information. To access the new Service Alignment site, click on ‘Service Alignment’ along the left hand menu of the Home Page.
