(May 25, 2006) SASKATOON – The International Travel Centre is proud to announce the grand opening of its new building, located at #108 – 407 Ludlow St., in Saskatoon’s rapidly growing Erindale community.
This program, which has been offered by Public Health Services for many years, previously operated out of the Idylwyld Centre. Since 1997, the number of clients has tripled, and a move was required. In fact, the centre has been visited by more than 9,000 clients within the past year.
"This centre is so important for travellers and can often mean the difference between contracting a serious and costly disease or simply contracting a case of homesickness," said Dr. Johnmark Opondo. "Our goal is to help people have safe, healthy holidays and business trips, as well as to offer immunizations to people who do not quality for free vaccines."
The centre provides travel health counselling and immunizations to people travelling for leisure, business, education and humanitarian reasons. The travel centre also offers occupational immunizations through contracts with local businesses within the Health Region. This allows businesses to offer a variety of immunizations to their employees, including Hepatitis and Rabies vaccines.
The International Travel Centre is open Monday to Friday, as well as some Saturdays, from
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments can take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours.
