(SASKATOON) Thursday, March 9, 2006 – Staff at the Royal University Hospital (RUH) will have access to a $75,000 grant that will go towards continuing education, thanks to TD Bank Financial Group. The TD Grants in Medical Excellence were created to help hospital workers, from nurses to occupational therapists, with ongoing education.
"TD’s Grants in Medical Excellence makes a commitment to the future by ensuring that Canada’s healthcare providers have access to funds that allow them to upgrade their skills," says Doug Semler, District Vice President for Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The TD donation will be disbursed over the next five years, at a rate of $15,000 per year. Hospital workers who apply to the fund will be supported with grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each year.
"We are very pleased to be able to welcome the TD Bank Financial Group into our hospital community," said Tom McClocklin, Chair of the RUH Foundation Board of Directors.
Royal University Hospital is currently in the midst of its Royal Care Campaign, with a goal of raising $15 million for research, education, and patient-care. The campaign is in the homestretch, with over $13 million raised to date.
