(September 18, 2006), SASKATOON – Approximately eight rural communities in the Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) will soon benefit from the Travelling Diabetes Resource Program (TDRP).
TDRP, a mobile public education program developed by the Canadian Diabetes Association, plans to visit 50 Saskatchewan communities over the next year to raise awareness about diabetes and to provide communities throughout the province with the best educational resources to assist in the prevention and management of diabetes. If you are interested in having TDRP make a stop in your community, contact Tracey Briggs, TDRP Coordinator, at 1-800-297-7488 or e-mail tracey.briggs@diabetes.ca.
TDRP is one of eight community projects being funded by SHR’s Community Grants Program, with projects totalling $75,630.
"Each year, this program funds a number of innovative projects and partnerships aimed at promoting health and wellness within the SHR. We continue to be impressed by the community leadership demonstrated and the dedicated people who create and deliver these programs. SHR is proud to assist these individuals in making a difference in the health of their communities," said Suzanne Mahaffey, Chair, Community Grants Committee.
