(SASKATOON)
Friday, March 10, 2006- Saskatoon- A hero’s welcome was given to Lance Armstrong at TCU Place today when the seven-time Tour de France cycling champion walked on stage to deliver his message of courage and hope.
Sponsored by Cameco Corporation, Mr. Armstrong also delivered encouragement to all those who rely on Royal University Hospital for treatment and care as the event took the hospital’s Royal Care Campaign to the new milestone of $14 million.
All funds raised at the event will support RUH training fellowships for medical specialists to ensure that excellent health care is available when it is needed here at home.
The Campaign is now just $1 million away from its $15 million goal to raise funds to improve access and quality of care, retain medical specialists and professionals, and to equip the hospital with the facilities and tools it needs to provide exceptional care.
Adrienne Nolan, Executive Director of the RUH Foundation said the event was made possible by the generous support of the following community sponsors: Cameco, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, SaskTel, Rawlco Radio - C95, Rock 102, CKOM, Butler Byers Insurance, Bridge City Auto, PIC Investment Group, S.O. Asher Consultants, Doug's Spoke 'N Sport, Wellington West, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Colliers McClocklin, and Creative Fire.
