(SASKATOON) January 11, 2006 - One of Canada’s leading life and health insurance organizations today announced a $100,000 gift to support the ongoing education and training of medical personnel - from nutritionists to licensed practical nurses - at Royal University Hospital (RUH).
The gift from Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life was presented to the Royal Care Campaign for RUH. The gift takes the total amount raised to $11 million.
The Royal Care Campaign is raising $15 million for research, education, and patient-care at RUH.
The companies have a special interest in the area of health, and are committed to collaborating with leading centres of research to develop best practices for the major healthcare concerns of Canadians.
"We are committed to collaborating with major hospitals like RUH to ensure that medical personnel receive the ongoing education they need to stay current in their fields and to ensure quality patient care," said Rick Kennedy, Regional Director, The Resource Centre for Great-West in Central Saskatchewan.
The gift will be invested to provide one grant annually at a minimum level of $4,500, or, two grants annually at a minimum level of $2,250 each. The figure represents the interest earned on the invested principle.
