(April 11, 2008) Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region has received approval from the Ministry of Health to proceed to tendering for the construction of the Humboldt District Health Complex. The tender will be advertised this Saturday, April 12th in provincial newspapers and forwarded to western Canadian construction associations.
“This is exciting news for Humboldt and area residents, “ says Darlene Eberle, Chair, Saskatoon Regional Health Authority. “The project has been a long time coming and with this tender announcement, residents of Humboldt and area can now be assured the Humboldt District Health Complex is no longer just a plan but a reality.”
The Humboldt District Health Complex will serve as a model of service integration and will improve the care experience of our patients and clients. The new building will replace the current Humboldt District Hospital facility and will also house a consolidation of community-based services, including home care, mental health, public health, health promotion and community therapies. The integration of all health services under one roof will serve to improve the coordination of services to the citizens of Humboldt and area.
This project addresses all of Saskatoon Health Region’s five key strategic directions and most notably:
- Transforming the Care and Service Experience
- Transforming the Work Experience and
- Building a Sustainable Integrated System
The Saskatoon Health Region acknowledges the assistance and contributions of its significant partners including area municipalities, St. Elizabeth's Foundation, Project Advisory Group members, staff and physicians. This support has been, and will continue to be, integral to the success of this project.
