FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(August 15, 2008) Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region Community Services staff began their move from the Community Services building to the Wakaw hospital today. Residents of Wakaw and area will have improved access to care with all health services under one roof. Also, referrals between program staff and physicians will improve and overhead costs will be reduced. Staff who are moving include public health, community mental health, addiction services and child, youth and family services.
In May 2008 the hospital underwent extensive renovations to make room for the relocated staff. The renovations were completed with no disruption of service. The region intends to transfer title of the Community Services Building to the Town of Wakaw and the Rural Municipalities of Hoodoo, Fish Creek and St. Louis.
