(November 4, 2009, 3:30 p.m.) Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region would like to remind the public that H1N1 immunizations are currently available ONLY to the following groups:
- Children 6 months up to 5 years of age
- Pregnant women who are greater than 20 weeks into their term
- Women who are up to 4 weeks post-partum
Immunizations for ONLY these above specific at-risk groups continue for the Saskatoon neighbourhoods of King George, Meadow Green, Pleasant Hill, Riversdale, and Westmount as well as rural communities.
Immunizations for ONLY these groups also continue at Prairieland Park. This immunization site is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily for the above three groups who have been identified by the province as the first priority for the H1N1 vaccine.
As of 3:30 p.m., about 3,800 individuals have been immunized at Prairieland Park since it opened Tuesday morning, including 1,025 today.
This past Tuesday, the Ministry of Health identified the next demographic of individuals in line to receive H1N1 vaccinations. That group will be school-aged children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
The Region is in the process of finalizing its plans on how it will deliver vaccines to this identified next at-risk group. The details of that plan will be announced Thursday.
Saskatoon Health Region thanks all residents for their patience and understanding as we continue to immunize those most at-risk and organize and expand into additional groups as directed by the province.
The Region is also reminding people that seasonal influenza immunizations are NO longer available until H1N1 immunization clinics are finished.
