(December 3, 2009), Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region residents are answering the call and rolling up their sleeves along with the rest of the province.
Approximately 109,000 residents, or about 36% of the population, have been vaccinated as of December 2nd. The Health Region’s overall coverage rate is slightly higher than the provincial average as reported to the Health Region by the Ministry of Health’s immunization registry.
Yesterday, overall about 4,200 people were immunized throughout the Region, and at Prairieland Park, more than 2,600 people received the H1N1 vaccine. Staff at the Prairieland Park site is prepared to immunize at least 4,000 people a day until Sunday.
Saskatoon Health Region is extremely pleased with the number of individuals who have come forward to protect themselves and their families against H1N1.
However, there are still many more individuals who still have not received their immunization. The Region reminds people that this disease can affect the healthiest individual hard and that people should take every precaution in protecting themselves.
Prairieland Park is open from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm weekdays; 10:00 am – 6:00 pm weekends. This site will remain open until mid-December. Rural clinics continue to be offered at centralized locations throughout the Region.
