ASCS provides information, support and
referrals to expectant parents inquiring
about pregnancy options, birth parents
and adoptees needing search information,
prospective and adoptive parents considering
domestic, private or intercountry adoption.
Library and resource materials include
books on adoption related issues such as
attachment, infertility, grief, open adoption,
FASD and disability supports, alternative
parenting, general parenting, and children’s
books. Membership includes full library
privilege, bi-monthly magazine, Adoption
News and conference/workshop discounts.

Their purpose is to give deaf Saskatchewan
an opportunity to express their ideas and
develop their skills and talents. To encouragecultural interest and teach cultural programs
to deaf citizens of Saskatchewan. To foster
deaf pride. To encourage use and recognition
of ASL (American Sign Language) as a
distinct language and to further enlighten
the larger hearing society to the capabilities of deaf persons. To foster positive self-image
by welcoming deaf into deaf Society and
providing workshops on deaf culture, ASL
and deaf studies to further their knowledge
and pride. To strengthen family ties between
parents and their deaf children through
education and positive role models.

The Open Door Society offers services for
new immigrants and refugees in Saskatoon.
They provide settlement help, English classes
with childcare and parenting and youth
programs. Parenting programs include:
Food For Thought for pregnant immigrant
women and new moms in Canada, Parent
Talk for first time moms in Canada, Nobody’s
Perfect for immigrant parents who have
children 0 to 6 years old, Cross Cultural
Parenting for immigrants who have school
age children and Women’s Support Groups.
Open Door has a daycare open to public fee
payers and participants in SODS programs.
They also offer a cooking class for men,
volunteer development and employment development programs. They provide a
resource lending library for volunteers
and members with materials related to all
cultural issues. Translation and interpretation
is also provided.
