Cultivating Change is an Aboriginal awareness workshop where misconceptions of Aboriginal people are addressed by tracing the historical roots of some of the contemporary challenges that exist in Aboriginal communities. Currently, Cultivating Change is delivered during WOW orientation. Independent sessions can be booked through our office.
STEP Into Health Careers is a pre-employment program targeted at recruiting, training and hiring Aboriginal youth in entry-level positions with the Saskatoon Health Region. Programs are delivered at various times of the year. Contact us for specific dates and program information
Program 6 is from May 6 to June 17, 2011 with a focus on Client Attendant and Environmental Services Workers.
Peer Network – is open to all employees of Saskatoon Health Region and provides an avenue of networking across various departments, participation in cultural, community and family events, and opportunities to attend professional development workshops. The Peer Network places an emphasis on education, celebration, and fostering culturally competent knowledge of Aboriginal peoples and cultures.To join the network, contact our office.
Aboriginal Student Program – summer employment opportunities with Saskatoon Health Region is made possible through internal and external funding partnerships. Representative Workforce coordinates summer employment for Aboriginal post-secondary students giving them experience that will add to their success in work-settings beyond their studies. Employment as a student with the Health Region has extended across various departments. Students may submit their resume to Representative Workforce e-mail or by mail.
Representative Workforce attends key secondary and post-secondary career fairs targeted at Aboriginal audiences, provide presentations about program opportunities and initiatives, and participate as advisors on committees and with other community partners.
