At Royal University Hospital, our Registration staff work with you to arrange your accommodation. We offer standard ward accommodation to all patients at no charge. These rooms generally contain four beds, and may or may not contain a bathroom.
To enhance your hospital experience, we offer a Preferred Accommodations program. Preferred Accommodations rooms include private and semi-private rooms and Victorian Suites on the Maternity ward. These rooms may be available upon request.
These rooms offer additional privacy and convenience and include premium plus cable TV and telephone services in the cost of the room. Saskatoon Health Region will direct bill your insurer for preferred accommodation charges.
Preferred Accommodations
While we will make every effort to place you in a preferred accommodation, your requested accommodation may not be available to you at the time you request it.
During your stay in a preferred accommodation you may be relocated to another room to accommodate a patient with unique medical needs.

Mothods of Payment
Charges for your Preferred Accommodation are due upon discharge.
1. Extra Health Insurance
If you have a private health insurance plan or an extended health
benefits plan through work, Saskatoon Health Region will bill your
insurance provider directly for your preferred accommodation charges.
You will be responsible for the cost of your preferred accommodation,
so be sure to check with your insurance provider or your employer
to determine if preferred accommodations are covered under your
plan.
NOTE: Please be advised that not all insurance providers accept
direct billing from Saskatoon Health Region at this time.
Insurance Form
If you are choosing to pay for your preferred accommodation with extra health
insurance you must complete the Insurance
Information Form (PDF) provided
by the Registration staff. This form must be completed and given to a cashier
before you are discharged from the hospital.
2. Credit Card, Cash, Debit or Personal Cheque
If you are not paying through an extra health insurance plan,
you can pay for your preferred accommodations by Visa, MasterCard,
cash, debit or personal cheque. If you are paying with a credit
card you must provide your complete credit card information to
the Cashier to secure your preferred accommodation. Charges will
be processed on your credit card upon discharge.
If you are paying
by cash debit or cheque, you must pay a deposit of $200. Any unused
deposit will be returned to you upon discharge from the hospital
and any remaining charges are due upon discharge.
