Wynyard Hospital is an integrated facility that supports acute,
respite and long term care. Wynyard Hospital was renovated in 2001.
A new long-term care facility (Golden Acres) was built at the same
time an added to the hospital. The hospital has 8 beds. There are
also 59 long-term care beds in the integrated facility, with a
staff of approximately 100 employees.
Admitting
To be admitted into hospital, please report to the admitting desk
located at the front office by the main entrance
Television Service/Telephones/Radios
Televisions are located in the patient lounges at the end of each
corridor. A portable television/VCR is available for patients
confined to bed.
A pay telephone is located by the front office near the main entrance.
Patients may bring their own radio.
Newspapers/Reading Materials
The Wynyard Advance and the Star Phoenix are available at the front
desk.
Quiet Room/Clergy
A quiet room is provided to allow privacy and confidentiality for
families and for counseling and discussions with doctors and
nursing staff.
A Palliative room consisting of a private room for the patient
and an adjoining room with a kitchen and sleeping accommodations
are available for family use. There is a telephone in this room
with access to long distance by calling card only.
Upon request clergy make weekly visits to patients. To arrange
for a visit, please ask your nurse for more information.
Patient Meals
The kitchen is open to visitors for meals. Meals are provided at
cost from the kitchen for visitors. Meals will be delivered to
your room at the following times:
- Breakfast – 7:30 a.m.
- Lunch – 12:00 noon
- Dinner – 5:00 p.m.
A drink machine and a treat machine are located at the front entrance.
Telephoning a Patient
Contact (306) 554-2586, and your call will be directed.
Patients may use hallway phones to call local numbers.
