The Chronic Pain Centre evaluates services from several perspectives: program effectiveness, client satisfaction and physician partnership satisfaction.

Program Effectiveness
The Chronic Pain Centre is committed to providing evidence-based programs and services. Measures are used to assess clients' psychosocial well-being, factors associated with pain management, and functional abilities. The measures are used to help develop treatment programs that are specific to each client and to provide information about the effectiveness of the treatment program.
The efficacy of the overall treatment program is evaluated using 9 psychosocial tools and 6 functional measures that have been validated for use with chronic pain populations.

Clients are evaluated at the start of program and at the end of program. Three months following the program, they are invited to attend the Centre and outcome measures are again administered.
Current Outcomes
The majority of clients who attend the treatment program improve substantially on all measures, suggesting they experience increases in functional capacity, perceived performance, satisfaction with their performance, acceptance of their pain condition, self-confidence for managing pain and perception of life control. The outcome measures also indicate that most clients experience substantial decreases in worrying about their pain, fear and avoidance of pain-related movements, pain severity, depressive symptoms and perceived disability.
Client Satisfaction
In addition to ensuring that the treatment program is effective, it is important that clients feel that they have benefited from the program. At the end of treatment, all clients complete a client satisfaction questionnaire that provides information about how clients experienced the program. This information is used to help guide program development and highlight aspects that are valuable from the clients' perspective, and those that are not.

Levels of Satisfaction of Physician Partners
The Chronic Pain Centre works in partnership with many other health professional groups, and it is important to ensure that the service the Chronic Pain Center provides is meeting the needs of these referral sources as well. Referring physicians are contacted once a year by fax to collect such feedback. The results of the 2006 survey indicate that overall physicians were very satisfied or satisfied (>90%) with services.
Feedback from Health Care Providers is Welcome
The Chronic Pain Centre values their contacts with all health care providers in the province. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please call 306-655-0810.
