QUICK RESPONSE PROGRAM (QRP)
Individuals who are treated in emergency departments for a variety
of medical reasons do not necessarily need to be admitted into
hospital. Sometimes, their convalescence can best be managed in
the community with some planning and assistance.
QRP exists to help people in Saskatoon hospital emergency departments,
who do not need to be admitted, but require additional services
to manage in the community. QRP staff actively seek out persons
in the emergency department who require such services. While many
referrals come from the emergency department staff, anyone can
refer a person in the emergency department to QRP. QRP staff speak
with the person and any family members or friends who are with
the person. They will provide information on public and private
services that can be accessed. They can also provide linkages to
other agencies, such as social services and mobile crisis unit.
