Nurses in the Saskatoon Health Region have been and are currently participating in Canadian nursing research projects:
- A Systematic Approach to Maximizing Nursing
Scopes of Practice
The study, A Systematic Approach to Maximizing Nursing Scopes of Practice is being lead by Dr. Jeanne Besner from the Calgary Health Region and Dr. Diane Doran from the University of Toronto.
Data collection occurred in the Calgary Health Region, Capital Health in Edmonton and the Saskatoon Health Region.
The purpose of the study is to examine the extent to which nursing knowledge, education, and skills are fully utilized (scope of practice) by different categories of regulated nurses, namely RNs, RPNs, and LPNs.
- Understanding the Costs and Outcomes of Nurses’
Turnover in Canadian Hospitals
The study, Understanding the Costs and Outcomes of Nurses’ Turnover in Canadian Hospitals is a 10 province study being lead by Dr. Linda O’Brian-Pallas and Dr. Gail Tomblin-Murphy from the Nursing Health Services Research Unit at the University of Toronto.
The purpose of the study is to examine how the rate and intensity of nursing turnover impact patient satisfaction and safety, nurse satisfaction, health and safety, and system outcomes.
