To promote optimal pregnancy outcomes and healthy lifestyle choices by providing support and education to individuals in the context of their family and community.
Program Description
Healthy Mother Healthy Baby is a commmunity based program within the Saskatoon Health Region. Staffing consists of a manager, secretary, prenatal health nurses, prenatal outreach workers, and a part-time nutritionist.
The program offers information, education, advocacy, and support in clients’ homes, Saskatoon Collegiates, West Winds Primary Health Centre, and other venues. The program offers milk, vitamin and mineral supplementation for pregnant teens and women whose diets are poor and whose incomes are inadequate to meet basic daily requirements. The program strives to be respectful and sensitive to the cultural differences of its clients and their families.
Healthy Mother Healthy Baby works collaboratively with many other programs within the health region such as Public Health Services, Women’s and Children’s Health, Mental Health and Addictions, Health Equities, Food for Thought, and KidsFirst.

Healthy Mother Healthy Baby has an open referral policy with many of the clients referring themselves to the program.
