Schools are an important setting to positively affect the health behaviours of children and youth. Schools can play a significant role in health promotion as they have the ability to reach every child (and their family) regardless of age, gender, culture or socio-economic status.
The Health Promotion Department, as a partner with our region’s school divisions, aims to support health promotion efforts in schools through planned, integrated and holistic approaches. The aim of health promotion in schools is to help build the conditions that support youth to realize their full potential as learners and as healthy, productive community members. This in turn will strengthen the community as a whole.
