Dr. Whitehead is head of the Saskatoon Public Health Observatory. He holds a joint position as medical health officer for the Saskatoon Health Region and as a faculty member of the University of Saskatchewan School of Public Health. Dr. Whitehead qualified in medicine in Leeds, United Kingdom. After a decade of work in clinical medicine, including general practice and work in a hospital in rural Kenya, he undertook his internship in public health medicine. In 1990 he was appointed Director of Public Health for Southern Derbyshire Health Authority in the UK, a position he held until coming to work in Canada in 2002. During his public health career he has led and been involved in many initiatives aimed at tackling health inequity. He is particularly interested in issues around inequity in healthcare utilisation.

Cristina is Manager of Saskatoon Health Region's Public Health Observatory. She has worked in Saskatoon Health Region since 2002 and played a key role in leading the Region's 2007-2010 Strategic Plan. Her policy experience is extensive and she has contributed to health care policy development as a member of both the Saskatchewan Commission on Medicare (2000) and the Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada (2001/ 02). She holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration.

- Dr. Jennifer Cushon

Dr. Cushon is the Program Manager of Research and Evaluation in the Public Health Observatory. She recently completed her PhD in Community Health and Epidemiology, and she holds a Master’s degree in Political Science. She has held positions with Health Canada as an Evaluator, and as a Co-Investigator and Research Assistant with the University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit. She is particularly interested in mixed methods research and evaluation, community-based approaches to addressing health inequity, and the effect of global, national, and provincial structures on local health.
