YOUR TELEHELATH APPOINTMENT
Certain healthcare professionals use Telehealth for appropriate clinical appointments. If you are referred for a Telehealth consult with a specialist, your medical appointment will happen through a secure live videoconference at a health facility close to you (see locations).
The specialist's office will arrange the appointment time and date, and send you a letter in the mail. Your health region's Telehealth Coordinator will give you a reminder call a few days prior and answer any questions you may have.
During your visit a health care professional may be with you to operate equipment. Once the connection is made, you and your specialist will see and hear each other using monitors and cameras. It will feel as if you are in the same room. They will ask you questions and if necessary examine a body part with a high resolution camera.
If you wish to have your appointment over Telehealth, please inquire with the specialist's office.
