Patient Preparation
None. Avoid the presence of barium
in the abdomen.
Exam Procedure
A sample of
blood will be taken from a vein in the patient's arm, and will
be labeled with a radioactive tracer. Approximately 30 minutes
later, the blood will be re-injected into the patient’s
vein. Imaging begins immediately following injection and will take
at least 90 minutes, but may take up to four hours.
