How Do I Prepare for an X-ray?
Plain x-rays of the chest, abdomen, arms, legs and spine require
no preparation and generally take only a few minutes to complete.
However, street clothes and jewellery must be removed from the
area of interest as they can interfere and cover the anatomy.
Please report to the Admitting Department 30 minutes prior to your
scheduled appointment time.
Bronchoscopy
An examination of the airway
and lungs using an endoscope (fibre-optic scope/tube) to visualize
air passages and possible biopsy (samples). This involves the
use of mild sedation and numbing the throat for passage of the
tube into the trachea and bronchi. X-rays are used to pinpoint
the exact location of the scope.
