How Do I Prepare for an X-ray?
Plain x-rays of the chest, abdomen, arms, legs and spine require
no preparation and generally take only a few minutes to complete.
However, street clothes and jewellery must be removed from the
area of interest as they can interfere and cover the anatomy.
Please report to the Admitting Department 30 minutes prior to your
scheduled appointment time.
Hip Aspiration
An orthopedic surgeon usually
performs this test. Fluid is removed from the hip joint when
there is suspected infection in a person with a hip replacement.
X-ray dye may be injected into the joint capsule to help locate
the correct space. The removed fluid is sent to the lab for testing.
- Time to perform - 30 minutes
