How Do I Prepare for an X-ray?
Plain x-rays of the chest, abdomen, arms, legs and spine require
no preparation and generally take only a few minutes to complete.
However, street clothes and jewellery must be removed from the
area of interest as they can interfere and cover the anatomy.
Please report to the Admitting Department 30 minutes prior to your
scheduled appointment time.
Urethrogram
This demonstrates the male urethra
for laceration (tears), fistula (abnormal connecting path) or
stricture (narrowing) which interrupts urination. A small catheter
(tube) is placed into the opening of the urethra at the end of
the penis, x-ray dye is injected to fill the urethra and images
are taken. This procedure is performed under sterile technique.
