Leading Teams


This module is designed to explore leadership practices to develop and support effective, cohesive teams, essential within a patient first management system.  This module will include understanding arrangements of work groups or teams, the stages of team development, and leadership activities and approaches to build and lead a cohesive team, including building trust and group dynamics.

Learning Objectives

  • Learners will understand differences of a work group and a team.
  • Learners will use an appreciative approach to understanding behaviors and dynamics that can increase team effectiveness.
  • Learners will gain an understanding of the stages of team development and what the roles of the leader are to support team growth in different stages.
  • Learners will gain an understanding of activities and processes to facilitate environments of collaboration and cooperation to achieve results, including building a team charter.
  • Learners will build an action plan to intentionally develop their own team based on the stage of development their team  is currently at as part of the assignment to implement for module completion.
