Volunteers in the Community helps Saskatoon residents remain independent in their own homes and prevent further deterioration of health. The specific services offered include Meals on Wheels, Transportation to Medical Appointments, and Grocery Shopping. We also provide volunteers at Field House to assist with the physical rehab programs provided through Saskatoon Health Region.
Meals On Wheels
More than 200 meals are provided each day for clients in Saskatoon. The meals are prepared at fives sites - Saskatoon City Hospital, Saskatoon Convalescent Home, Parkridge Centre, Extendicare and Sherbrooke Community Centre. Each weekday there is a total of 16 routes of hot meals that require delivery. Frozen meals are delivered once a week for weekends and holidays.
Transportation and Support Services
Support individuals who are not able to manage their social and transportation needs independently after exploring other available support and resource options. Volunteers support clients to medical appointments, assist with grocery shopping.
