Clinical Breast Assessment by a Breast Surgeon
As part of standard comprehensive breast care a patient should see one of the breast surgeons for a clinical assessment, unless otherwise arranged by the referring physician. As part of this assessment a
Breast Health History Questionnaire (PDF) will be requested to be filled out.

- Autologous tissue reconstruction
- Tissue expander/implant reconstruction
- Nipple areolar reconstruction.
Nurse Navigation
The nurse navigators meet all patients diagnosed with breast cancer to provide education and support. They have knowledge specific to a patients' diagnosis and how it relates to care options. They provide pre-operative teaching, suggest resources, books, websites, community resources. Provide follow up phone calls. They are the "go to" for patients and families.
Physiotherapy
The physiotherapist sees all patients preoperatively that are scheduled for:
- Mastectomy surgery
- Lumpectomy surgery with sentinel node biopsy or auxiliary node dissection
- May also be consulted if there are identified concerns at follow up appointments.
Social Work
Provide immediate support if needed and help connect with resources in the community.
High Risk for Breast Cancer Clinic
The clinic helps to identify, coordinate and develop a treatment plan for women and men who are at higher risk of developing breast cancer. See the
High Risk Breast Cancer Clinic Brochure (PDF) for criteria for referral explanation.
