Speech Language Pathology

​Objective

 Speech/Language Pathologists at Population and Public Health Services provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to preschool aged children in the rural areas of Saskatoon Health Region aged 0 - 5 years.

Services are provided at the main clinic at Ludlow street, and outlying areas such as Rosthern, Humboldt, Lanigan, Watrous and Warman.  Screening services for language and communication delay are done by the Public Health Nurse during the 18 month Child Health Clinic visit.  Early identification and intervention is important, and the goal is to assist the child reach his full potential. 

Target Group

 Parents/Caregivers of children less than five years of age who live in rural areas of Saskatoon Health Region.

 Activities with speech language pathology

  • Assessment and therapy done at different age groups
  • Common types of issues seen include cleft lip and/or palate, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorders, dyspraxia
