Maternal & Newborn Care Unit Layout

Door to maternal newborn unit The Maternal & Newborn Care Unit can accommodate 38 mom and baby pairs at a time. It covers a large geographical area (2 traditional wards). There are four public ward rooms, three semi-private rooms, 17 private rooms, and three Victorian Suites. To see a map of our unit, click he​re.

Room Accommodations

​When you arrive at Maternal Registration prior to having your baby, you will be asked your room preference. Click here​​ to see the room options at Royal University Hospital. We offer standard ward accommodation to all patients at no charge. ​

Please note that rooms will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis and are subject to availability. If your optimal choice is not available, the next best room will be given to you. Due to the high number of births in Saskatoon and the short length of your stay, once you have been assigned a room, we ask that you remain in your assigned room until you are discharged.

​Public Phones, Cell Phones and Internet Access

​There are pay phones in the Day Room and in the main hallway outside the unit. Private and semi-private rooms include telephone service. 

You are welcome to use your cell phone anywhere on the unit. Please keep your phone on vibrate for the consideration of others. Wireless Internet is available on the open patient/visitor network.
