​VMA (3 methoxy - 4 hydroxmandelic acid or HMMA) 24 Hour Urine Collection

Sample Collection Instruction

  • No dietary restrictions are necessary
  • Please follow the medication restrictions for 48 hours prior to and during collection time of specimen
  • Please refrigerate specimen during collection time

Some medications may interfere with results of this test. Talk to your doctor abut the medication you are taking. Your doctor may tell you to stop taking some of your medication. Do not stop taking medications unless your doctor tells you to stop.

If possible, please avoid the following:

  • Aldomet, Aldoril, Dopamet, Dopegyt: antihypertensive
  • Aspirin
  • Dexatroamphetamine: CNS stimulant, anorexic
  • Ephedrine: broncodilator, decongestant
  • Imipramine: antidepressant
  • Isoproternol: antidepressant
  • Meprobamate: tranquilizing agent
  • Monamine oxidase inhibitor: antidepressant
