  • Optimal Volume: Red Myco-F Lytic (BACTEC ): 5 mL
  • Minimum Volume: Red Myco-F Lytic (BACTEC ): 1-4 mL
    (Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection.)

​Stability/Storage
  • Transport to laboratory without delay at room temperature
    • Store < 48 hours at room temperature if transport is delayed
    • Specimens must be received in the laboratory with 48 hours of collection

  • Must be cleared by the Microbiologist on-call at (306)655-1000 prior to collection with the exception of requests from Infectious Disease doctor's or from one of the following patients: 
    • Stem cell transplant 
    • Leukemia 
    • Cancer (Inpatient)
