Samples requested for Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide Antibodies (Anti-CCP) WILL BE HELD and NOT TESTED in the following situations: For patients whom no rheumatoid factor (RF) testing has been done For patients whom the RF test has been negative When RF results have not been indicated on the requisition Exceptions include: Consults with Rheumatologist Testing approved by Microbiologist-on-call at 306-655-1000
Specimen Requirements

Container	Preferred Collection Container: Red Alternative Collection Container: Tiger (gel)
Required Volume	Whole Blood Optimal Volume: 4.0 mL Pediatric Volume: 3.0 mL Minimum Volume: 2.0 mL (Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection) Serum (For Laboratory Use Only) Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
Stability/Storage	Serum must be removed from cells or gel within 4 hours of collection Stable up to 7 days at 2°C to 8°C
Grounds for Rejection	Samples with repeated freeze/thaw cycle Samples held at ambient temperature for greater than 24 hours Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Acceptance and Rejection Criteria
