​Specimen Requirements​

Type​
  • ​Plasma and serum
​Container
​Required Volume
  • ​Optimal Volume:
    • Serum: 3.0 mL and
    • Plasma: 2.5 mL
​Stability/Storage
  • SST tubes must be spun and separated prior to shipment
  • Store at 2 - 8°C for up to 72 hours
  • Frozen aliquots of serum and plasma stored at ≤ 20°C for up to 6 months

Note: Specimens which are referred in to Saskatoon for Bone Bank must be transported at temperatures which maintain required storage criteria above.
