Specimen Requirements
Type	Aspirate Washing Swab
Container	Aspirate/Washing Preferred Collection Container: Sterile, wide mouth screw-cap Alternative Collection Container: Clear suction trap, white plain screw-cap lid Note: Replace tubing with the supplied lid prior to transport Swab Preferred Collection Container: Copan Universal Transport Medium (UTM) Kit
Required Volume	Aspirate/Washing Optimal Volume: 1.5 mL Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL (Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection)
Collection Procedure	Swab Insert swab into 2 mL transport medium tube and break swab shaft to replace cap
Stability/Storage	Refrigerate at 2 to 8°C if sample cannot be immediately transported to laboratory
