Ordering Recommendations

  • ​ ​A gluten free diet will interfere with the results of this test
  • Celiac screen includes testing for antibodies to tissue transglutaminase (tTg), classes IgA and IgG, and to deamidated gliadin (DGP), classes IgA and IgG

Specimen Requirements​ ​

  • ​Serum
  • ​Preferred Collection Container: Red
  • Alternative Collection Container: Tiger (gel)
​Required Volume

​Whole Blood

  • Optimal Volume: 4.0 mL
  • Pediatric Volume: 3.0 mL
  • Minimum Volume: 2.0 mL
    (Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection)

Serum (For Laboratory Use Only)

  • Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL

  • ​Serum must be removed from cells or gel within 4 hours of collection
  • Stable up to 7 days at 2°C to 8°C
