  • Surgical (excluding kidney aspirates)
  • Voided
​Collection Procedure
​Required Volume
  • Optimal Volume: 4 mL
  • Minimum Volume: 3 mL (indicated by minimum FILL line on tube)

    Note: If minimum volume can NOT be met, see Specimen Requirements #2
    (Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection)

  • Stable 48 hours at room temperature            
Grounds for Rejection​

​ ​Specimen Requirements #2

  • ​Small volume (less than 3 mL) collected by catheter, surgically (excluding kidney aspirates) or voided
​Required Volume
  • ​Volume: less than 3 mL
  • ​Specimen MUST be delivered to laboratory within two (2) hours of collection
  • Greater than 2 hours, refrigerate at 2 to 8°C prior to transport
  • Transport specimen to laboratory on ice
  • All transported specimens must reach the laboratory within 24 hours
