Mission Statement
The mission of the Provincial Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is to provide exceptional patient care, education and research in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, leading to improvement in function, independence, health, and quality of life for each individual served.
We provide holistic interdisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation services to patients and families and are commited to advancing knowledge of the art and science of rehabilitation.

Who We Are
The rehabilitation services in Saskatchewa are delivered by the Saskatchewan Health Authority Rehabilitation care in Saskatchewan is primarily delivered through two main locations; approximately the northern half of the province is served by the Saskatoon Rehabilitation Centre at Saskatoon City Hospital and our community partners and the southern half by the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina. We are also affiliated with the College of Medicine University of Saskatchewan.
As a teaching and research unit of the University of Saskatchewan we participate in the training of medical students, other allied professionals, post-graduate medical residents, nursing, and therapy students. We are also engaged in a robust program of medical research in areas such as MS care, spinal cord injury, and amputation. For more information regarding our academic programming, click here.
What We Do
Rehabilitation Programs provide assessment and rehabilitation to patients and their families in a holistic, culturally-inclusive, timely, cost-effective, goal-orientated, interdisciplinary manner. The care provided is person-centered and based on current evidence and practices. Our Rehabilitation Programs serve individuals with a variety of physical, cognitive, and/or psychological impairments and disabilities. The Rehabilitation Centres provides inpatient and outpatient services to support Saskatchewan adults and adolescents realize their full potential. Rehabilitation programs offered at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina and Saskatoon City Hospital include the following:
- Provincially we have 68 inpatient rehabilitation beds in total, outpatient Physiatry clinics, outpatient therapies, and virtual care clinics. We provide an interdisciplinary approach to care that involves Physiatry (Rehabilitation Medicine Specialists), Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Clinical Nutrition, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, and Recreational Therapy.
- We care for individuals diagnosed with spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, amputation, spasticity, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), ALS, and musculoskeletal conditions We also provide bracing and prosthetics clinics.
- Partnerships include Saskatchewan Abilities Council, Acquired Brian Injury Program, Kinetik Rehabilitation Services, Driver Evaluation Program, Alvin Buckwald Child Development Program, ALS Society, MS Society, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, SCH Foundation, Regina Hospital Foundation, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
