Clinical Appointments for Patients

Your Telehealth Appointment

If you are referred for a Telehealth consult with a specialist, your medical appointment will happen through a secure live videoconference at a health facility close to you.

The specialist's office will arrange the appointment time and date, and will notify you of the appointment by mail or telephone.  Your health region's Telehealth Coordinator will give you a reminder call a few days prior and answer any questions you may have.

On the day of your appointment you will be asked to visit a Telehealth site near you and resiger at the admitting department of that health care facility.  During your visit a health care professional may be with you to operate equipment. Once the connection is made, you and your specialist will see and hear each other using monitors and cameras.  It will feel as if you are in the same room.  They will ask you questions and if necessary examine a body part with a high resolution camera.

Appointments typically last betwen 10 minutes and one hour depending on the type of examination and health care provider you are seeing.

Your teleheatlh examination will be completely private and confidential.  It can only be seen and heard by those directly involved with the consultation.

If you wish to have your appointment over Telehealth, please inquire with the specialist's office.
